Griffin's New Cousin!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting FOREVER to put this on the blog! Most of you already know this but my sister, Michele, and her husband, Derek, are expecting their first baby this August. We are so excited that Griffin will now have three cousins and we could not be any happier for Shell and Derek. They are going to make amazing parents and I can't wait to see my sister go through the thrills of being a new mommy. Check out the link to their new blog on the right :) Congratulations you two!

Play Date with Maya

Since mom has had 3 snow days in a row we have had many play dates. Here is Griffin over at Maya's house enjoying her toys in one picture and a puppet show in another. Check our Maya's blog at www.bryanandalissa.blogspot.com for another cute picture of their playdate.

On another note, Griffin is now waving all the time. He flaps one little arm and even knows how to open and close his hand at the same time. Its really funny to watch him do it because he carefully watches himself open and close his fat little fist and he screams when he flaps his arm. We went to the mall yesterday to get out of the house and he waved to EVERYONE while I carried him around in the carrier. It was really cute.

Zwieback

Yesterday he almost feel asleep eating Zwieback in his highchair. He decided he didn't need an afternoon nap that day.

Here It Is!!!!

The good stuff is at the end of the video. He really enjoys playing with things that are bad...sharp corners, plugged in wires, you name it. I think he is starting to understand the word "no" now, too. Every time I say it he gets a puzzled look on his face and then frowns.

Officially crawling

I think we can officially say Griffin is crawling now. He used to just be able to go backwards and in circles but these past few days he has gone forward about 5 feet at a time. Babyproofing our house has just begun! He still prefers holding our hands and walking but if we aren't around and he really wants something (ie-any cord in the house) he will now crawl. Therefore, it has been very hard to get a video because as soon as he sees us he cries until we help him walk. Crawling rarely happens when we are in the room :)
BTW-in the post "Grandma got a new camera", you can see his two bottom teeth in the last picture pretty well if you click on the picture. Also, thanks for all the prayers for my grandma. All we can do is hope these next days are peaceful for her.

Funny because its true...

He is quickly outgrowing this shirt in more ways than one, thank goodness. And thanks Grandma Duncan for the shirt!

Grandma got a new camera!

Our favorite picture of all these is the one where G looks like he's had a couple too many bottles, if you know what we mean. He looks like he's catcalling a cute girl while under the influence. Picture him saying "Heyyyy girrrllll, whatcha doin' tonight?"

Not the best day ever...

We found out today that Griffin has a severe allergy to peanuts at the allergist. We had suspected this by the way he broke out in rashes and hives anytime someone ate or touched peanuts and then touched or kissed him. The allergist confirmed it with a simple test today and we also learned he is allergic to cats. (If anyone knows a good home for a sweet cat named Lucy, let us know) However, its one thing to be allergic to cats, another to have a "severe reaction", as the doc said, to nuts. We are pretty much petrified at this point and desperately wishing we could take the allergy ourselves rather than our son. We know we have many years of label reading, Epi-pen and warning symptoms training for ANYONE who watches him and many other frustrations but at the same time we feel lucky... we found out before he was able to ever ingest nuts that he has this severe allergy. Many people don't find this kind of thing out until they are in an emergency room because their child stopped breathing. For that, we are blessed. We also know he is not allergic to things like milk, soy, wheat or eggs, all of which are in just about everything. We are completely overwhelmed right now but we know God is watching over our favorite little man and peanuts will never get too close to him as long as we can help it.

Happy Birthday Cousin Livi!

Last night we went to Griffin’s cousin, Olivia’s 2nd birthday party.
It was a Dora themed party as you can see by the cake. I’ve seen that cake mold somewhere before :)

Here is a picture of Griffin with his other cousin, Camryn. We call them twins as they have some very similar characteristics. With their bald/blonde hair, cute little round heads, Zantac addictions, and ability to spit up everything they eat, it can be hard to tell them apart!

With his grandma and great grandma.

Here is the birthday girl eating hummus like its ice cream. Thanks for a great party Matt, Meg, Livi and Cam!

Bathtime!

Griffin loves his baths. This video doesn't show it, but if you stand him up against the side of the tub as the water is running he will lift one leg at a time and pull up with his arms trying to get in. Something new every day...

Up, up, up and away!

Griffin loves getting tossed in the air lately. Actually that was only thing that got him to smile today. He has been sick with a cold and cough and consequently been extremely fussy for two days straight. We hope he feels better soon.

8 months old!

Griffin turned 8 months old today. Here is a video of him pulling himself up all by himself, which he has been doing for a couple weeks now. Now, he pulls himself up and can take a couple steps while holding onto something. This was right before naptime so he's a little cranky.
