Christmas 2008 Pics

Here are some pictures from Christmas this year. Griffin is sitting in his grandma's massaging chair in the one picture, and that was the look on his face the entire time. He had the whole room laughing. Scott and I both agreed that Christmas takes on a whole new meaning with a child, and we couldn't be more thankful for all that we have been given this year.

First Word

Here is what we have been hearing whenever Griffin sees Lucy. He says it twice, once at the very beginning and then again not too much later. Turn up your volume before you begin. On another note, we wish everyone a very merry Christmas!

Mom and Dad

Poll: Who does Griffin look like? Please don't be thrown off by the Bearcats hat in one picture or the mohawk in the other:)

Pretty Close...

We are pretty sure Griffin is on the brink of a few new exciting things. Lately, he has figured out how to bring his hands together in front of him over and over, if he could speed it up we might call it clapping! Also, on different occasions Scott and I have heard him say the k sound whenever he hears the cat meowing or he sees her walk in the room. Sometimes it sounds like "kee (kitty)" and sometimes it sounds like "ka (cat)". For months now we have been saying "kitty cat" whenever he sees her and we thought we were hearing things the first couple times he did it but I don't think we can deny it anymore. He still says "dadadada" all the time but we don't know that he actually knows what it means, where when he says his sounds for "cat" we are pretty sure he knows what he is saying!

Random Pictures

Here are some pictures taken in the past week. In one he is playing with his pots and pans, his favorite thing to bang on while mom makes dinner. In another he has his feet up after a long hard meal and in the other he is sucking on a bottle of sanitizer (the lid is on securely) in a highchair at a restaurant.

TOOTH!!!!

We have a tooth! Right before putting Griffin to bed tonight he stuck my thumb in his mouth and I was shocked when I felt his first tooth! It is on his lower left side and just barely peeking through, but its there. It's hard to see as only a little bit of white is showing but you can definitely feel it. I've heard that the worst of the teething is right before the tooth breaks through the gums and I am happy to say Griffin wasn't even phased. No drooling, stomachaches, fussiness, sleeplessness or anything. I hope I am not speaking too soon... As soon as he lets me get a picture I will post it, but I bet that will be pretty hard. Maybe he asked Santa for teeth for Christmas.

Santa!!!!!

Griffin played it totally cool when meeting Santa for the first time today. When he meets new people he doesn't cry but he also won't give you the slightest smile. We didn't get any pictures of it but he spent the first 30 seconds playing with Santa's beard. We went to Macy's downtown to visit Santa and then had brunch at First Watch afterwards. His shirt said "#1 on Santa's list", which didn't help get us to the front of the line like we expected but it was worth the wait! Thanks to aunt Shell for the shirt. Is he waving in the 2nd photo? :)

Lip Sucking

When he isn't saying "da, da, da" he is busy sucking his lower lip.

Sense of Humor?

The ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star are two of Griffin's favorite songs. I have been singing them to him, along with You Are My Sunshine since the day he was born. I decided to add some new words when I was rocking him the other day and he thought it was absolutely hilarious. Apparently it still is...

Side Notes-He is pulling up all by himself now. If you give him something to pull up on that is just the right level, he can do it. We think he might just skip the whole crawling thing. He has also been sleeping through the night for a couple weeks now. Usually 8-6 without a peep. He also says "Da, da, da, da" all day long and has concocted a fake laugh instead of a fake cough for attention. Its getting even harder to leave for work lately...every day is something new and his dad and I love experiencing all the new things with him.

St. Nick Came!

Griffin got to celebrate his first visit from St. Nick today. He got some new toys, rattles, CD's and his first pair of shades. Of course, his favorite was the wrapper from the gum mom got.

Christmas Photo Shoot Runners Up

Here are some pictures from the photo shoot Scott and I did with Griffin for Christmas cards that didn't make the cut. He's actually yawning in one and laughing hysterically in another!

Griffin went with his parents to see his first train display downtown on Sunday. He really enjoyed watching the trains zoom by him :)

Thanks Grammy

These pictures were taken a couple weeks ago on a trip to the park with Grammy, Aunt Megan and cousins Livi and Camryn. It was Griffin's first time swinging and sliding. Thanks for the help Livi :)

For Aunt Shell

Griffin officially has camera shyness. Every time I get out the video camera to capture him laughing, talking, playing, etc. he automatically stops what he's doing.

Merry Early Christmas!

Riding the Horsie

Although he tried to jump for the first five minutes, he eventually got the hang of it and started rocking. The smiles tell all!

Sleeping

Griffin must sleep with his hands under his head because for the last few days I have found him with hand marks on his forehead after his naps.

Update

Is this what it feels like to sleep through the night without having to get up every couple hours??? Griffin went to bed last night and slept from 8 PM 'till almost 7 AM without more than a couple whimpers and moans here and there. We are little scared to be excited as that seems awful quick to go from terrible sleeper to wonderful sleeper, but we will take it! He has also been putting himself to sleep for naps. Everyone is just a little bit happier today :)

The Hardest Thing I Have Ever Done...

Last night, Scott and I decided we would let Griffin cry every time he woke up in the middle of the night. Neither of us have gotten a full night's sleep in over 6 months, as baby G gets up at least 2-4 times a night, requiring attention or feedings that last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. We put Griffin to bed at 8, he got up at 11:45 and cried for 20 minutes... not so bad. Then he got up at 12:45 and (no exaggerations here) cried for an hour and 25 minutes. After 45 minutes I started crying too. When he got up in the morning Scott and I both ran in and were greeted by this smile, thank God. I hope this doesn't keep up for more than a couple nights. It really tests every bit of strength in me.

I had a hard time with this one...

For some reason seeing Griffin drink from a cup from the first time really threw me off. Watching him roll over, sit up and "talk" didn't seem to mean he was growing up as much as drinking from a regular cup.

First "big boy" bath

The entire bath was spent splashing and then choking on the water he splashed in his face...but he loved it!

Dad's 28th birthday celebration

Here are some pictures of Scott's 28th birthday celebration. Griffin loved playing with his two cousins Olivia (almost 2) and Camryn (2 months). In the picture with the computer, Livi and Griffin are intently watching Dora.

Shrieking in delight

Now every time Griffin sees Lucy he shrieks in delight. You can also see in this video how well he is sitting on his own. Another new thing is lifting his arms to be picked up...pretty cute.

First Election

Griffin helped his mom wait in line yesterday for an hour to vote. The election official said he did such a good job that she gave him a sticker too!
