Griffin loves the Beach
This might actually be his favorite part of going to the beach...rinsing off with the hose.
He would walk right in, without even so much as a thought to whether we were by his side.
As soon as we get to the pool in the morning Griffin gets the keys out of our bag (or says "KEEEYS!" which is probably the most distinct word he has ever said) and walks over the boardwalk where he knows you need keys to get to the beach. He cannot reach the handle but if he could he would try and stick the key in until he could get through...he loves the beach! Yesterday, grandma and grandpa built him a sandcastle to sit in, equipped with a long tunnel to connect it to the waves to fill up with water. He stayed in it for over and hour.

Happy Belated Father's Day
To celebrate Father's Day (for the best father in the world) we went to River Downs, as we do every year. Griffin had fun petting, watching and riding the horses. He also had fun walking around the clubhouse and giving his cousin Camryn lots of kisses (which is what he is doing in that picture). We leave for Florida on Wednesday morning so there will be a hiatus in the blogging for all our loyal readers. We will be back next week with plenty of fun pictures.

Imaginitive Play
Griffin and I went to the bookstore for story time last week on a rainy day and he found a toy car that was still in its box. It didn't matter to him, he pushed it around on the floor for 10 minutes straight making his car noises. I figured out I no longer need to BUY toys, just take him to the store to play with them.

Fashion Sense
Griffin found his way into Mom's box of scarves and had a great time. In the first picture you can see his "hard work" face. When he is trying REALLY hard to do something he makes this face and sometimes his little head shakes as he tries something really strenuous.
Disclaimer-I promise my eyes were on him the whole time, mom, as I know this might be a strangulation hazard :)

Boating and Camping
i
Griffin had his first boating and camping trip last night thanks to the Kime family. We headed down to their land in Northern Kentucky on the river yesterday for some fun. We had a great time! We did some playing, boating, cooking, eating, and roasting. Maria, Aaron, Chloe (3) and Will (18 mo) opened up their extra bedroom to us in their trailer and we slept (even Griffin) very well after a fun full day. We owe you a big thank you!

Learning to Pray
Griffin has been learning to pray with his mom and dad these past couple days. His cousin Camryn is having surgery today to get tubes. We know it must be pretty hard on Cam's parents to see her go through this but it will help end all those darn ear infections :) We are thinking of you Cam, affectionately known as "Tank".
Also,
Griffin's other cousin, baby Moore, has been trying to make an early appearance these past couple days. He has only been cooking for 30 weeks and isn't quite big enough to meet us yet. So his mom and dad have been doing everything they can to keep him safe inside. After several trips to the hospital, a lot of shots to stop contractions, lots of medicine to prevent contractions, FFN tests to determine that he isn't coming within the next two weeks (yay!), and lots of worrying and praying, Aunt Shell is now on strict/moderate bedrest. She can get up to go to the bathroom but thats about it. Griffin is going to miss his aunt and uncle on vacation in a couple weeks but we know we would all do anything to keep baby Moore safe.
Praying for both cousins and knowing God will watch over them!

Weekend of Fun
This weekend was a tun of fun for the Lyons family. Of course, I only remembered my camera for one of the days though! On Friday night we headed to the zoo for "members night" where there was a children's musician, meet-n-greet with certain animals and animal shows. Griffin loved it, although he would love any outdoor area where he can run around. This theory proved true on Saturday night when we went to Junefest with grandma and grandpa Gunderson. Griffin rode his first ride (a train...5 times) and every time the ride ended he got pretty upset, he ate his first sucker and played tons of games. Thanks to grandma and grandpa, the whole family had a blast! Then on Sunday we celebrated Grammy and Aunt Megan's birthday, which is what the pictures are from. Livi, Cam and Biffin (lovingly called by Livi) had a fun time together :) Happy early birthday Grammy and Megan!

Bathtime
We have recently learned that we cannot say the word "bath" in front of Griffin unless we plan on giving him a bath. He knows exactly what it means and will make a beeline for the bathroom when you say it. He also knows he has to get undressed and has learned to say his own version of "bath". The other morning when I turned on the shower he got very upset when he realized it wasn't for him!
