Sprinkler
Our neighbors had their sprinkler up the other night and Griffin had a blast walking through it. He was sopping wet but totally happy. I couldn't get any facial pictures because he was too busy "talking" to the neighbors but you can see the wet hair.

We're working on the nose next :)
Here is a video of the first body part Griffin has learned. As you can see, there is just a little bit of over generalization with the nose, but we are working on that next :)

Taste of Cincinnati
Tonight we went to Taste of Cincinnati with Patrick and Liz. Griffin did pretty well but he spent most of his time on mom or dad's shoulders. He LOVED the fried pickles and ate two of them almost completely by himself, which is the picture you see at the bottom. Don't worry he also got some chicken ravioli from Bella Luna and some fruit and veggy baby food to top it all off. I love the picture at the top, where you can see him "smelling". He made his bunny rabbit face the whole walk to the car and got a lot of laughs from people :)

Check out our photographer's blog to see some of Griffin's first birthday pictures. We loved her and can't wait to share the rest of the pictures with everyone once we get them.

Get Better Soon Uncle Derek!
Uncle Derek had knee surgery over the weekend and we are hoping he is back to normal before soon and that the pain isn't too bad. This is a video from about two months ago when Derek was in town. He was pretty daring to let G play with his laptop but you can tell by the dancing how much he loved it! Get better soon and can't wait to see you and Aunt Shell next month in Hutchinson Island, FL!

Update
Griffin went for his one year appt on Monday and he is doing well! The doctor was a little concerned about his weight and height (7th% and 10th%) but she summed it up to his genetics and gave us some tips on how to get more calories into him. It was kind of surprising because although he can be a picky eater he does eat a lot now.
I had to go through a checklist of a bunch of things that children should be doing by 18 months (even though he is only 12 months) and he was doing them all except one (pointing at objects). So he is way ahead of schedule which we already knew :) He got two shots, for which he was really tough, and really only gave the nurse a dirty look for doing them. We also had to get blood drawn to do a lead test yesterday at Children's which he was really brave for too. After it was done (he cried for about 5 seconds) the nurse gave him a sticker. He took the sticker, threw it on the ground and waved bye-bye to her, without either of us eve saying the word "bye-bye". It made me laugh pretty hard. Here is a picture of him squatting, his new favorite position in order to play in the dirt/rocks/mulch outside without sitting in it completely.

Happy Birthday Little Man!
I heard this song for the millionth time on the radio the other day but it made me cry when I realized that it summed up how we felt about Griffin. So I thought I would post it for his first birthday. Our little boy is one already and we have so many hopes and dreams for him and we love him more than he might possibly ever realize :)
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,
But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this is my wish.
I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
All the ones who love you in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
And, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.
But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this is my wish.
This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big.
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,

Butterfly Show
w
We went to the Butterfly Show at The Krohn Conservatory over the weekend and got to see some beautiful butterflies. Griffin was content with just watching them for about 2o minutes and then we had to leave the butterfly exhibit because we were scared he might eat or smash one, since they let the butterflies fly all around in a big room. We saw waterfalls, stone tunnels, a million different plants and flowers...but his favorite part was probably the stairs, go figure :)

Air Show at Lunken
Griffin enjoyed seeing the airplanes and helicopters at Lunken Airport today. We think he signs for airplane by putting one hand up in the air, either that or he is reaching for the airplanes. However, he does it even if he just hears one. He also enjoyed "driving" the fire engine. It was a gorgeous day to enjoy the show and we went to "The Land of Make Believe" playground afterward.
